Our client faced a critical challenge: their legacy fulfillment system was causing inefficient routing, driving higher costs, while manual workarounds to address capacity constraints led to postponed deliveries and lost sales.  We modernized their fulfillment logic, reducing driving distances while considering capacity constraints and prioritization rules to optimize service levels and delivery expenses. 

Data-Driven Insights for Meaningful Results 

The company’s prior method dealt with capacity issues by postponing delivery dates, which led to unfulfilled demand and potential lost sales.  By combining our advanced analytics and a tailored problem-solving approach, we delivered a solution that offered a better outcome.  This new fulfillment algorithm unlocked a reduction in driving distances while considering capacity constraints and desired prioritization rules to optimize service levels and delivery expenses: 

    • Canadian Operations: Reduced 330k miles driven (8.9%) and unfilled demand by 9.8%. 
    • U.S. Operations: Achieved a 12% reduction in unfilled demand, which was prioritized over a slight increase in theoretical miles driven. 
    • Scalable Framework: Provided a foundation for future scenario planning and agile decision-making.
